In late October Matheson launched a new and innovative course meant to give Ergonomic students the opportunity to learn and practice skills ON-SITE in a company WITH a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist by their side.
This 3 day course combined classroom lecture with performance of an onsite ergonomic analysis, completion of a formal report and an in-person presentation to company representatives.
Freudenberg-Nok an international manufacturing company with a location near the Matheson Training Center in Bedford NH graciously hosted our Applied Ergonomic class. The class met with a company representative on site to discuss issues and challenges with some of the work performed in the area the students would evaluate. The team received a tour of the plant and then performed an ergonomic analysis of 2 separate jobs while being guided and receiving feedback from Dr. John Lacourse, PhD, CPE, CEES Board Certified Professional Ergonomist.
Once back in the classroom the students scored and analyzed the information obtained on-site, produced a formal which was reviewed by Dr. Lacourse and a developed a powerpoint presentation for the meeting with company representatives the next day.
The formal presentation to the company was a huge success and ended in some additional time in an informal brainstorming session! An exciting opportunity for students and the company representatives alike!
Within hours of the students departing the course the company representative called and said they were so happy with the experience they wanted the class to come speak to Senior Management at the plant. Sadly everyone was on a plane home but Dr. Lacourse will carry the torch forward for the Applied Ergonomics students!
GREAT JOB TEAM MATHESON!!
