Lesson Notes:
This next lesson will begin delving into problematic posturing and common preventable workplace injuries, as well as using force, pressure, and exertion metrics to help you analyze the risk factors present within the workplace environment. This chapter will also cover the importance and varying usage of mechanical testing equipment such as the dynamometer and pinch gauge.
Lesson Materials & Course Work:
During this lesson, I would like each of you to think of a few risk factors that may be present in your workplace regarding excessive force, pressure, or exertion. It could be as simple as “Our clinics IT professional may be at risk of a possible localized force injury upon their wrists due to incorrect chair and keyboard heights.” or something much more thorough and complex. This quick assignment is meant to help you become what we call a “thinking evaluator” by training your mind to notice all potential risk factors present around you when evaluating, and not simply following a rigid and set protocol.
